One of “those” mothers

Posted in My Mommy Life on February 26, 2008 by Angela

I never thought I would become one of “those” mothers. You know, the ones that say they can’t wait until the kids go back to school. I never understood why they would say that, until now! My kids have been on vacation this past week and I was soo happy to see Monday come. There I am, standing in the doorway, with a big smile on my face as the bus picks up my daughter.

When did my attitude change? I have no idea. I think it was when my third was born and my daughter got a  little older and did not want to play with her brothers. They used to be such good kids ( they still are by the way), now all you hear throughout the house is: “stop bugging me”;”mom he’s bugging me”;”mom she won’t let me  play”; etc, etc.

February vacation is in my opinion a waste of time. The kids can’t really go out and play because instead of snow we are getting rain, And they are getting bored with winter. At least for April vacation I can ship them outside!

So what did I do yesterday with my quiet time? Absolutely nothing. I had a ton of things to do, but I was so wiped out I did nothing, but enjoy the silence.

I started crocheting a small doily/coaster, I’m hoping to finish it today and have a picture to put up. I still have to finish my knitting my daughters sweater and I have a ton of baby booties to make. So I should really be getting out of here.

Have a great day!!

Finding Balance

Posted in Basic Babble, Crochet Stuff with tags , on February 24, 2008 by Angela

That is exactly what I’ve been trying to do lately, find balance. My husband is away for about 2 1/2 months and it is a huge adjustment! Not only for me but for the kids! They had a hard time the first couple of weeks  but are doing better . Now I am just trying to rearrange my time schedule so I can get my projects done. It would be easier if we didn’t have the  flu going the house, yet again!!

I have been slacking in the blogging world, so it’s now my goal to post something everyday. Wish me luck!

I have been staying sane by working on some baby hats. We have some spring craft fairs coming up and I thought these would be cute, I’ve been on a crochet kick lately:

Second Sock Syndrome

Posted in Basic Babble, Knitting projects on January 16, 2008 by Angela

How to cure it? I have no idea. Sometimes I can finish the second sock and other times I can’t even cast on for the second. For me it’s boredom, plain and simple. I get bored very quickly if it’s not interesting. So, if I’m making a sock that doesn’t involve any pattern, to keep my interest, I will do a small project in between socks or read a book for a few days. Usually after a couple of days, I’m good to start again.

I have started the second sock for my brother (see Ben’s Sock post), but have started a pair of baby socks. I was doing fine with the sock but stopped, because I need a quick birthday present for Saturday. I’m thinking of making a hat to go with the socks. I’ll post a picture when I’m done!

Onto other knitting news: I signed up for a knitting instructors course through the Craft Yarn Council . I just got my materials today!! Now, I just have to sit down and go through them. Well I’m off to go and check out my box of stuff,

Happy Knitting !!

Ben’s sock

Here it is, my brother’s sock.Yes, just one so far. It’s been crazy around here this week, and all I have gotten done is one row of the second sock. For some reason my yarn does not want to be a sock this week. I already pulled it off the needles. I had a few stitches jump right off, so I just pulled them all off.

Last night I sat down to do some knitting and knit the first row, put it down and went to bed. I have no idea why I am having such a hard time starting this second sock. Could it be that I have a pattern for some fingerless gloves calling my name? Maybe. Could it be that I need to finish my daughter’s sweater? Possibly. So what am I doing instead? Sitting here babbling about what I need to do!

Enjoy! I’m off to go knit ( I hope).

Hello world!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 2, 2008 by Angela

Well, this is all very new to me, so please bear with me as I get my feet wet and figure this blogging stuff out !

I am sitting here basking in the silence, two of my kids are in school and my youngest is having a nap, woo hoo !! So that me means I can start some laundry and work on the socks I’m making for my brother.  I wanted to have them done for Christmas, but that didn’t happen, better late than never!

Well nap time can come to an end rather quickly so I will leave you with a couple of pictures. I will post the new sock  picture soon ( I hope).
